Cranial helmets

Helmet therapy is a treatment that involves fitting a baby with a special helmet to correct the shape of their skull. This treatment gently corrects the shape of babies’ skulls over time. It is used to treat plagiocephaly, a common condition where the soft plates of a baby’s skull may develop a flat spot or uneven appearance due to sleeping in the same position. In some cases, helmet therapy may also be used to treat craniosynostosis, a condition where the plates of the baby’s skull fuse too soon or abnormally. Correcting the head shape can require surgical treatment with or without a helmet order.
